EL RELOJ CIGARS

EL RELOJ CIGARS

Made in the last operating cigar factory in cigar city (Tampa, Florida), we have incorporated old world tradition to bring you a flavorful boxed cigar at a value price. Featuring a blend of quality aged tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, each cigar is carefully rolled with a rich Ecuadorian Havana Seed Sungrown wrapper the way Julius Caeser Newman made them back in 1954 when he moved his operation from Cleveland, Ohio to the “El Reloj” cigar factory Tampa, FL. In its heyday in the early 1900’s, Tampa had as many 150 cigar factories, many of which were referred to by their nicknames – today El Reloj (the “clock factory”) is the lone survivor. When it was built in 1910, El Reloj became the focal point of the community. Most people didn’t own clocks and watches – they would rise in the morning, eat, go to school, go to work, and go to bed – all from the hourly chime that can still be heard today throughout the historic Ybor City region of Tampa. Legend has it that the locals used to refer to this clock as the “wishing clock”. When anyone had a problem – personal, financial, health, etc. – they would gather in the street in front of El Reloj at 9:15 in the morning stretching out their arms replicating the “nine” and the “three” on the long hand of the clock. This was the “wishing” moment where they “wished” their problems away – but at 9:16 it was gone. There is no doubt that some of that magic is worked into our new El Reloj Cigars. With an 8” length it offers a nice long break with lots of flavor and a great price. This cigar comes in different vitolas including: El Reloj Cigars Ocho.
